Kelantan Darul Naim (In Kelantanese dialect: Klatè) or it short name Kelantan is one of 14 states in Malaysia which is rich in natural resources. The area of Kelantan is about 14,922 km², located at northeast of Peninsular Malaysia, in front of South China Sea, and shares boundary with Thailand. Kelantan is an agrarian state that has a lot of paddy growing field and fishermen villages.

Based on the year 2000 survey, Kelantan has 1,313,014 residents. Malay race is the largest occupant with 95% of the total population, followed by Chinese 3.8%, Indian 0.3% and others 0.9%. Based on the above survey, 95% of residents in Kelantan are Muslims, followed by Buddhist with 4.4%, Christian 0.2%, Hindus 0.2% and other religions 0.2%.
